The Wickham Park Blues & Roots Festival featuring Diesel, Russell Morris and Ash Grunwald has unfortunately and regrettably been cancelled.
Newcastle based music promoter Big Apachee has isued the following statement:
"Our team has worked hard for over 12 months on this event however, the constant changes with Council and Police (and no confirmation conditions won’t change again) we cannot deliver the festival the way wanted, therefore we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to cancel our event.
Given the disappointingly slow roll-out of the vaccine by the Government, and uncertainty surrounding crowd capacity limits and social distancing laws there is no confidence that we can keep all safe and proceed as planned at our festival in January. The continuing mismanagement of the Covid-19 situation at all levels of government has led to numerous inconsistencies and on-going broken promises by officials that ultimately affect the safety of our patrons, artists and our crews. So much so that the situation presents too much risk to proceed with the date as planned on Saturday the 15th of January 2022.
To keep all involved as safe as we can and limit the possibility of getting stuck in the middle of further snap lockdowns, border closures and other knee-jerk reactions, we have decided to cancel our event rather than add to the endless list of postponements and rescheduled dates on the Australian events calendar.
Big Apachee director Marcus D. Wright has issued the following statement: “It has always been a dream of ours to produce a live music festival with a focus on local artists and I’m heartbroken that cannot proceed in this current environment.”
Refunds will be issued in the coming days. No action is required from Bigtix ticketholders.
